“Creativity is inventing, experiencing, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.”

Mary Lou Cook – Peace Activist and Artist

Ambah o’Brien is one of today’s hottest designers.  She has some spectacular designs and wonderful movement in her pieces.  The Kiah Shawl is one of her new patterns and is unique in its design.  This pattern will make a fun and interesting Knit-A-Long.
Below is Ambah’s description of this piece:

“Pick your favourite luxurious yarn and make every day more beautiful with Kiah shawl. Kiah grew out of a collaboration with local Australian yarn dyer Oyster Yarns. Simple garter stitch sets off a spectacular central lace panel that grows with the shawl, resulting in a large, airy piece perfect for warm weather wearing. The pattern is worked top-down in a symmetrical crescent shape and is lovely in any colour that strikes your fancy, from pale, go-with-anything neutrals to deep, saturated jewel tones. Choose one special skein from your stash and knit up the versatile small size, or pick two skeins for the generous large.”’

The pattern includes both written and charted instructions for the lace.

The KAL begins Saturday, August 26th from 10:00 - 12:00 with our Cast On Gathering. Then for the next six weeks, excluding 9/2, we will meet from 10:00 - 12:00 to work on the shawls.  Our wrap up gathering will be on September 30th.

The cost is $10, which will be waived if your yarn is purchased at KnitWorks Yarn.  Each participant will receive a raffle ticket for each KAL gathering attended.  On September 30th, we will draw a ticket and the winner will receive a $50 gift certificate!

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
