Classes

We are happy to help customers learn the basics of knitting or crochet. Stop by anytime and we’ll get you started, no class necessary. However, for those who are interested in a more intensive education we have the following classes:

Thursday Sit and Knit Night:
Our weekly Sit and Knit night is an informal gathering where knitters, crocheters, lacemakers, and tatters can bring their current WIPS (works in progress) to work on, relaxing and sharing a good conversation with others who appreciate the handmade arts.
5:30 – 7:30 every Thursday.

Title:      Breathing Space Sweater Class
Dates:   9/13, 9/27, 10/11, and 11/1        Time:Weds. - 10:00 – 12:00       Cost: $40

This sweater is by designer Veera Välimäki.  This is what Veera had to say about this sweater:

Title:      Beginning Knitting
Dates:   Fridays  –  9/15 and 9/22   Time:  10:00 – 12:00    Cost: $25 plus materials
Instructor:  Nancy Currie
Participants will learn the basics of knitting.  In the process of creating a simple washcloth, participants will learn how to cast on, create knit and purl stitches, and bind off.

Title:      Technique Class – Cast Ons and Bind Offs
Dates:  Wednesday – 9/20            Time:    10:00 – 12:00                   Cost: $15
Instructor: Becky Curran
Have you ever had a cast on or bound off edge that was too tight or flimsy?  In this class, students will learn several different techniques for casting on and binding off and when a particular method is most beneficial.  Students should come to class with a 4”x4” swatch in non-cotton w
orsted weight yarn on the needles.

Title:      Technique Class – Increases and Decreases
Dates:  Wednesday – 10/4               Time:    10:00 – 12:00                   Cost: $15

Have you ever wondered why you some patterns call for increases or decreases to be made in different ways?  In this class students will learn how to do a variety of techniques and the use for each one.  Students should come to class with a 4”x4” swatch in non-cotton worsted weight yarn on the needles.

Title:      Dishcloth Class – Mosaic Knitting
Dates:   Friday, 10/20                 Time: 10:00 – 12:00          Cost: $15 plus materials
Instructor: Becky Curran
Becky has designed many wonderful washcloths.  You may want to use this class to start your Christmas knitting and knit her Frosty or Christmas tree cloths.  Or you may choose one of her other cloths instead.  HOMEWORK: knit gauge swatch and bring to class
